Tá áis nua iontach ag Conchúr Ó Liatháin ar iGaeilge, an suíomh idirlín a bhain duais an Oireachtais i mbliana - tá nasc leis ar thaobh an leathanaigh seo. Is é atá ann ná gléas vótála le go dtig leat vótáil faoi cheisteanna áirithe. Is é an ceist atá le vótáil air faoi láthair ná ar cheart éirí as morshiúltaí ar son Acht na Gaeilge agus rud nua a thastáil, ar cheart leanúint le mórshiúlta, nó an bhfuil aon rogha a mholfá féin ar mhorshiúltaí? Chaith mé féin vóta ar son rudaí nua a thastáil. Fágfaidh mé agaibh féin bhur rogha féin a dhéanamh. Ach bain triall as - tá an vóta 56% ar son seifteanna nua, 44% ar son leanúint le mórshiúlta. Vótáil go luath, vótáil go minic.
An scéal is déanaí faoin tuairisc a rinne an BBC ar mhórshiúil Acht na Gaeigle.
400 duine a bhí ar mhorshiúl POBAL dar leis an BBC Dé Sathairn. Méadaíodh níos déanaí sa lá é go 500. Anois tá an BBC ag maíomh go raibh b'fhéidir 650 ann. Dar leis an PSNI go raibh os cionn 700 ar an mhorshiúil a chuaigh ó Iarthar Bhéal Feirste is Tuaisceart gan oirthear ná deisceart san áireamh. Tá físeán faoin mhórshiúil ó Iarthar Bhéal Feirste le breathnú ar www.nuacht.com
Seo thíos litir a fuair POBAL ar ais ón BBC. Dar le Janet Muller ó POBAL gur mairg léi nár ghlac an t-eagarthóir ag an BBC le cuireadh chun bualadh léi agus breathnú ar fhíseán eile mar aon le físeán an BBC féin. Déan suas bhur n-intinn féin.

Dear Janet
I’m replying to your recent correspondence about our coverage of last Saturday’s Irish language march and rally in Belfast City Centre. You express concern that BBC News underestimated the number of people involved in this event and suggest that around 4000 people may have taken part.
I have reviewed the detail of your complaint and can confirm that our reporter estimated the numbers at the assembly point in Bank Street as being between 4-500. BBC footage recorded at this location would appear to support this assessment of the crowd’s size. Our recording also shows the feeder parades arriving. As you know, the square is a relatively small public space and the footage which I’ve seen suggests that it wasn’t particularly packed at the time when you addressed the crowd. Conor McCauley made his estimation of attendance during your speech and on the basis that those taking part would have arrived by the time you took to the podium.
We accept that there may have been a margin of error of between 100 -150 in the figure which we quoted in local BBC news reports. We have checked with the PSNI and they estimate that there may have been in excess of seven hundred people involved based on the feeder parades from North and West Belfast. The Police were unable to give us an estimate of those taking part in the South/East feeder parade. We note that the Parades Commission website indicates that Pobal’s own estimate of the numbers who would be involved in all three feeder parades was 900 people. Taking all of this into consideration I’m satisfied that our reported figure of 4-500 participants was broadly accurate, subject to a variance of up to 150 people.
Our news crew did not follow the parade through the city centre and we accept others may have joined in the event. However, it would seem unlikely that this would have resulted in ten-fold increase in the number of participants.
I hope this clarifies the basis of our news coverage of this event on the BBC’s website and other broadcast outlets. We also carried another report on the future of Irish medium schools and know the importance which both stories have for Irish speaking communities.
Yours sincerely
Angelina
